How does the order process work step-by-step?Please visit my “How It Works” page for complete ordering and receiving details.
I don't have PayPal, how do I order? Why don't you have PayPal?! :) No, it's fine if you don't use PayPal, you can certainly send me a personal check. Email me for my address; I will wait until the check clears to send you an email with the music attached.
How long will it take for me to get my music? aka When is the music going to arrive in the mail? You would be surprised how much I get these questions! This issue arises because PayPal requires you to enter your shipping address when you order, so one gets confused and thinks the sheet music is coming via snail mail. Your sheet music will not arrive in the mail, it is instantly emailed to the email address you provided PayPal. A link to download the music is at the bottom of the email receipt that comes from order@emartcart.com, not the receipt that comes from service@paypal.com. Again, the music is INSTANTLY available after your purchase, simply check your inbox!
If the music is digitally downloadable, why do I have to provide my mailing address?Even though my music is instantly downloadable via secure email link, PayPal does not have an option for me to not require a mailing address. So, even though I don't need it, you have to enter your mailing address. I'm sorry! It does help me see where my patrons come from, though...
How many copies do I have to buy for my ward choir? This is perhaps the best part of AaronWaite.com! If you're a ward choir director, you’ve been given a teeny tiny yearly budget, say $50, to buy new music. Well, 25 copies of one song from Jackman to cover copyright at $2 each…and your ward music budget is gone with one purchase! At AaronWaite.com, since I own the copyright outright, I only require you to purchase the piece ONCE, then you make AS MANY copies as you like! Put another way, you could buy 25 of my choir numbers for the same price as one from a publisher!
Where's my email receipt? The email address your receipt was sent to is the email address on file with PayPal. If by chance you don't see it in your inbox, check your junk mail folder (most ISPs now offer this free). Please note that the receipt will be from order@emartcart.com, our ecommerce partner. If you can't find the receipt anywhere, email me as it might be a glitch from our side.
The download link is saying my email is incorrect? We all have multiple email addresses nowadays, and it's common to use different email addresses for different purposes (we have a hotmail account simply for junk mail!). The email address your AaronWaite.com download receipt will recognize is your email address specifically related to PayPal. Whatever email address is on PayPal's file is the one you will need to enter to download my music. If things still don't work, email me.
The link in my email receipt expired, what do I do?For security reasons the link in your email receipt is only good for 48 hours after your purchase. You'll need to download the music and print within that 2-day period. I would strongly suggest saving the pdf to your computer even before viewing it (especially if you bought the anthology), that way you'll always have it. But if you didn't get to the download in time, email me and I'll look up your order and re-send it, which will refresh the link for another 48 hours.
I'm using a Mac and my download is numbers and symbols, what's wrong? For some reason Macs/Safari don't like AaronWaite.com! This is a very common problem, but we've figured out what one of the possible fixes is. When you download the music the website address on Safari should end in .pdf but it ends in .html. If you delete that extra .html so the internet address ends in .pdf, you should see your music just fine! If that doesn't work, I'm stumped! Email me and I'll gladly attach a pdf to an email for you.
Can I change your music to fit this instrument/voice/fill-in-the-blank?This is a big no-no on other websites...but a big yes-yes on mine! I love to see/hear how others use my music and change it to fit their needs. I've had one patron arrange one of my arrangements like seven times for different voices (even a 40-member French horn choir!). Please, make any changes you need to fit your current situation. Three conditions, though: 1. I'd like a copy of the adaptation to see how cool it is. 2. I reserve the right to post the music on my website and retain copyright. 3. I want a YouTube video!
Can I get the piano anthology/mp3 album as a CD?In the past the piano anthology was only available on CD-ROM, until my knowledge caught up with the technology. Now, the anthology is only available as an ebook. Likewise, the audio albums are only available as mp3s downloads in a zipped folder. I would be more than welcome to send you a piano anthology CD-ROM or an audio CD if you initially purchase the ebook or mp3s and also cover my shipping costs (generally $5 for priority mail).
Do you take requests/commissions?I LOVE REQUESTS! It gives me so much joy when someone says to me “I need this, what can you do?” When I first started AaronWaite.com it was easy to fill requests because I received them so infrequently. Now I get several per week. Obviously I can't fill every request anymore. But two things could really help. The first is if it's a good idea! :) What I mean by that is if it's something that I can really grab onto, something that gets my muse working. And the only way to find out if I like the idea is to ask! The second thing that helps is, sadly, money. A commission is certainly something that would pique my interest. Commissions in the past have had finished products within the week. If you are interested in this avenue, email me for my current rates (which btw are EXTREMELY good!).
Can I sing on AaronWaite.com?In the summer of 2010 we had our first open auditions for vocalists, with almost 100 initial singers. We whittled that down to 14 finalists, then made a list of seven “featured vocalists” who are currently on http://www.aaronwaite.com/audio/vocalists.php. It was a TON of work for both the vocalists and me, no walk in the park! We currently are not soliciting for new vocalists on the site, but welcome any demos of you specifically singing my music. I would suggest finding the vocal solos/duets that don’t currently have “live” vocalists, make a recording of your own, and send it in. Who knows? Maybe you won't have to compete the next time around!
Will you put a link to my website on AaronWaite.com?Reciprocal links are the best guerilla marketing on the internet there is! Have you noticed whose name is first on Sally DeFord’s links site? I will gladly place a link to your website on AaronWaite.com, granted you will do the same for me on your website. I do reserve the right to research your site and reject the link invitation if I feel your site doesn't “fit” mine content-wise.
Please remove my email from your mailing list. When you purchase music from AaronWaite.com, you are automatically added to the AaronWaite.com Alert List to receive emails when I add new music to the site. If you want to be removed from the list, please email me your name and the email address you most likely provided to PayPal when you purchased music on my site. I have to manually enter my database and alphabetically scroll through the thousands of emails to locate the correct address to delete, so please try to be as sure on the email address to delete as possible. Better yet, if you have multiple email addresses, let me know them so I can look in my list for them all. Once deleted, your email address won't be on my list until you purchase music again or re-add it yourself.
Will you come and perform for my Relief Society, youth group, etc?I long for the day when I get more requests like this! If you are within 100 miles of the Salt Lake Valley, I will gladly perform at any religious-based function you invite me to. I have several presentations ready to choose from. Please contact me for details, scheduling, accommodations, etc.
Why is your music so cheap? It's always flattering to hear “Oh you should charge so much more for your beautiful music.” But I prefer simply to keep the music about the music and nothing else. LDS music is meant to praise God our Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ and His atonement, and the restoration of the gospel. Any other purpose would be incorrect, and offering my praises in this way is, in my opinion, an expression of consecration. By the way, as a member of the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP), all of my compositions are copyright protected, but since I'm not affiliated/”carried” by any publisher, I get to set whatever price I want for my music. If I did go through a publisher I would be forced to charge much more.
Why are there no dynamic markings in your music?Excellent question! If you notice, almost all of my sheet music is completely void of detailed dynamic markings. I do this on purpose, believe it or not! Here's why: I believe in the concept of free expression when it comes to music; that is, the individual performer is free to interpret the music however he/she wants when it comes to tempo, dynamics, mood, etc. I confess I hardly ever look at dynamic and tempo markings on music I play, because I want to make each piece my own. So, I leave all of those details off my music so you're allowed and encouraged to do the same with my music! Go on, be as loud/quiet/fast/soft as you want to be, just make it yours! If you don't like this answer, you can always listen to my mp3s of each song to get a general feel of how I think a certain piece should go.
(Fill-in-the blank) isn't working on your website. The latest version of AaronWaite.com relies heavily on embeds from other websites, such as emartcart.com (shopping cart), mixpod.com (mp3s), PayPal, and Facebook. From time to time these outside sources experience technical difficulties, scheduled maintenance, etc. (mixpod is notorious for this, btw). Sadly I cannot control those “glitches” and am at their mercy. If something's not working right, give it an hour or two and the problem usually corrects itself. If you experience the same problem over multiple days, contact me and we'll see what we can solve together.
Are you the YouTube singer/Las Vegas lawyer/Aurora doctor/501 Things to Do with a Zombie author? If only, if only, the woodpecker sighs...No, sadly, I am not the author of the surprisingly-popular zombie book, nor do I practice law in Nevada (although that Aaron Waite is also from St. George, UT!) or sing on YouTube (that’s the one I get asked about the most). Those are different Aaron Waites with apparently good talents as well, good thing I bought the aaronwaite.com domain name years ago! |
